Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

As mentioned earlier, I was down in Bangsar Actors Studio last night watching 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun'. The Bangsar's Actors Studio auditorium is much smaller than the one I was in at KLPac in Sentul. Even HELP's KPD Block D auditorium seems to be larger.

My dad's friend who was one of the performers reserved for us great seats when we told her we were coming to see her sing. So I was pretty lucky that I was seated only three rows from the stage and right smack in the very centre. The view was excellent till I could see their facial expressions and the colour of their jewelry, costumes and make-up very clearly. =p

'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' is a fantabulous and humourous a capella performance that should be watched by girls and guys alike! It touches on dating, love, girlfriends, the importance of sisterhood in a witty, playful, sexy and oh, so musical way.

A capella is basically pure singing, which means the voices create the sounds of the accompaniments like beatboxes, electric guitars and the like. Which means you can save money by not purchasing those instruments. =p

Anyway, some of the songs they sang were Jessica Simpson's These Boots Are Made For Walking, Sway, PCD's Don't Cha and the theme song from the movie Wong Fei Hung.
When they appeared onstage singing 'These Boots Are Made For Walking', wearing miniskirts with boots and looking sexy, I expected a similar costume for PCD's Don't Cha.

To my surprise, they performed 'Don't Cha' wearing black evening dresses with high slits. They did a toned-down version of the chair routine that PCD did while singing though. It was definitely a more elegant sexy style then the typical PCD black ultra-mini top and skirt.

If they did the whole PCD thing, there might be some old geezer in the audience that might get a heart attack and sue them for err...inducing stimulatory and artery popping images?

Though it does say in the ticket that the venue owner shall not be held responsible for any death, personal injury blah blah blah....
I think that the performance is rated, something along the lines of 'Not for family viewing'.
Not to mention some people might get offended and feel that it wouldn't be in very good taste to do a burlesque routine in the hallowed grounds of Malaysia's Bangsar Actors Studio.

If the LiT performers have a re-run of this performance, I would advise all of you fun-loving humourous people to go and watch it. Trust me, you'll be laughing till you get stitches and you won't walk out of the auditorium without a smile on your face.
