Malaise and murder

Malaise and murder

The symptoms are there.
The diagnosis is out.
Its confirmed.
I'm morphing into a weekend blogger. AHHHHHHH!!!!!

I feel bad and guilty that my blog lies untouched on weekdays and suddenly springs to life once Friday comes. Nevermind, I'm on meds for it and seriously trying to kick the habit. =p

In short, what have I been doing for the past few days?

Monday :
Netball tourney. We won. What else did you expect? =p

Tuesday :
Got unceremoniously kicked out from law tutorial along with everyone else except for 5 people. I could have stayed and gotten away with it but I decided to be honest. Hehe.

Wednesday :
Went shopping. Bought 3 black tops. Don't start rolling your eyes yet cause I was looking for 2 of the tops. The 3rd one just came along as a pleasant surprise. So its justifiable. Sort of. =)

Thursday :
Watched 'Just Follow Law' by Jack Neo at Midvalley with the college mates cause its raining so I couldn't go home or stay for netball. The college mates decided to skip tutorial after what happened in lecture as they didn't do their work also. Hehe.

'Just Follow Law' is quite a good show!! Funny and thought-provoking....it has all the nice, ugly and familiar bits of Malaysian and Singaporean behaviour rolled into one movie. What else could you expect from the director of 'I Not Stupid'? This show is recommendable for all Malaysians and fans of Fann Wong and Gurmit Singh. Seriously. =)

Friday :
Math test results. I passed. Period. 'Pan's Labyrinth' in KLCC. Which also means I get to stroll in their park, something I haven't done for ages. 'Pan's Labyrinth' is dark and creepy. A bit gross in some places too. The boundaries between the real and imaginary world is well blurred creating a smooth and seamless transition. Definitely not for kids, unless you wanna give them nightmares. Pretty good for a Spanish movie. I enjoyed the show, along with the comfortable seats. =p

Did not buy anything. Self-control proved to be stronger than desire. I am making progress here. Hehe. Never ever take the LRT from KLCC at 6pm. Either leave before 5pm or after dinner. Made that mistake and was stunned to see a super-duper long queue snaking around the whole station. The security guard had to stand at the door and exhort people to get into the train quickly and to jam-pack themselves to make more space for incoming passengers. *grimace* Got on to the train and it was like a super-squeezed tin of sardines. Couldn't find anything to hold on to and had to balance oneself as the train sped and swayed on the track. Had I fainted, I wouldn't have to worry about crashing to the floor as my body would be supported by all the other surrounding bodies. If someone on the train had SARS, all the passengers would probably be infected due to the extremely close contact. *shudders*

Saturday :
Got out of bed in time for lunch. After seeing me come home with a shopping bag for the past 2 weeks and hearing me extoll on the virtues of Bangsar shopping, my mum decides to give it a shot and I gladly bring her to Bangsar for some shopping.

During lunch...
Mum : I wonder if your dad is sending you there for classes or to shop?
Me : Well, if he picked me up punctually then I wouldn't have time to shop, would I? *grins*

We go to Blook and People's and Cats Whiskers and Little Black Book. Plus a couple more boutiques which I can't remember their names. I caution my mum not to buy what she likes upon the first time entering the shop as she might see something else better for a cheaper price. After all, you can always go back and buy that item but you can't go back and get a refund. =p

I get 2 dresses from Cats Whiskers and my mum buys the corduroy pants that I've been eyeing for her ever since I saw it. One of the dresses is a white version of the blue dress that I tried on last week. And another is the black version of a lovely white dress that is almost perfectly perfect except that its rather thin, if you get my meaning. As I was trying on the latter white dress and stepped out to get a better look, a girl next to us said to her friend in Cantonese, "Looks like a doll." Since I wasn't sure if they were talking about me or not, I quickly scrutinized my reflection in the mirror to see which part of me looks like a doll. Probably the sweet and innocent face...Hehehe. Or maybe I was just being perasaan. Lolz!

While browsing in Cats Whiskers, I noticed that the same ladies whom I saw shopping in Blook and People's and Little Black Book were in Cats Whiskers also. It was like a shopping tour where we kept seeing the same faces over and over again.

At a boutique on Telawi 3...
Mum : Hmmm...after seeing the prices in the other shop (Cats Whiskers), everything else seems expensive lah!
Me : Yup, yup. Now you know why I bought so much stuff there.
Mum : This shop got no sale, all fixed price and got minimum amount for credit card summore. No wonder got no customer lah!
Me : Yealorr (Aiya, this shop don't accept credit card means I can't get the top I want lah.)

Bengang-ness betul!

I've got strict orders to buy a certain item if that shop ever has a sale. Even 10% discount also buy. Hehe. I've so succeeded in subverting my mum to the wonders of Bangsar shopping. ;)

Had my first butter crabs of the year for dinner. And oh boy, am I stuffed. Its a bit tough finishing off the crabs without my sister around as she totally loves to eat crabs.

In the car...
Mum : *talking to my dad* Your daughter ah, say bring me go shopping in Bangsar but end up she buy more things than me!
Me : What, where got! We each bought 2 items what! Somemore your skirt more expensive than both my dresses.
Dad : When she (meaning my sis) comes back than the 3 of you can go shopping...

My dad's smart enough to be neutral and not take sides. =p

On the way to Baskin Robins outside Riana Green, the car next to us sounds its horn and we turn to see my uncle and cousins waving to us.
Me : Do you think they're going to Baskin Robins?
Dad : I bet you they're going to Baskin Robins! Lets just follow behind their car.
Me : I bet they'll go Centrepoint cause its the nearest outlet. *texts my cousin to ask where's he going*
Mum : Eh, don't go Centrepoint la. Go to the outlet in Uptown.
Dad : Why? Centrepoint so near dowan to go but must go Uptown which is further.
Mum : Cause Centrepoint got very limited variety ma!

This is how far my family goes for ice-cream. Hehe. My cousin texts me to say that they are also going to Baskin Robins because today is the 31st. What a funny coincidence.

On a total count for the past 8 days, I have watched 3 movies, went to KLCC twice, had 5 hours of sleep straight for 2 days which turned out to be hectic days, did 2 rounds of Bangsar shopping, went to Midvalley once, got kicked out of class for the first time in the past 15 months, won a netball tourney and broke someone's heart. Quite an achievement, yes?

I know its a long post but I don't think I'll be able to blog till next weekend, so bear with me and my ramblings patiently as this post is supposed to last you till the next time round.

Its funny how some people can just get away with bloody murder while others simply can't...

Hey, stranger
11:21 PM
Hey, stranger

Music wafts out softly towards me as I gracefully place one stiletto heel in front of another, each unconcsiously measured and precise step formed over years from habit. One 3-inch high black diamante strapped foot in front of another, leisurely exuding an aura of quiet confidence.

The maitre'd recognises me and leads me to our usual table with a smile. There is no need for reservations. This is, after all our restaurant. He quietly withdraws and leaves me alone with my thoughts as though he knows that I want to savour every moment in private.

I know that I won't be alone for long. You always tried to be early so that I wouldn't have to wait for you. And I'm right. Before long, I hear your voice utter those two magical words.

"Hey, stranger."

I know you're suprised that I'm early tonight. Somehow, I know you won't bring yourself to ask me why I'm early this time round. And I'm thankful for that, as I'm not sure that I'd have the courage to tell you face-to-face, why. It would only make the situation more painful.

I wanted to be early so that I could capture every essence of tonight with crystal clarity. I wanted it written indelibly in my mind, for this memory will be my touchstone in the future.

Dinner is perfect. Its as though they know why we are here tonight and they are determined to make it a perfect night for us. And I do thank them for that. There are no tears, no recriminations, no might-have-beens and should-have-beens. We've agreed that just for tonight, we'll leave the past and the future aside and live for the night.

The pianist plays the very same song he did when you first asked me to dance. And once again, I remember that night where we danced under the gentle and forgiving nightlight. Wrapped up in our little cocoon, safe from prying eyes and wagging tongues. And you held me in your arms and made me feel that I was everything that I was.

Its bittersweet this time when you ask me to dance with you once more. You know I can never refuse a dance with you. And you hold me once again and we both sway to the beat of the song.

The whole night has been magically wonderful and perfect. How I only wish that it was the beginning of a hello and not the ending of a goodbye.

I know I shouldn't, but I can't help but wonder this.

"When will I ever hear you utter those two words again to me?"

Flipping the odds

On Tuesday after econs class...
Ms. Joanna : Siew Yen, why are you sleeping in my class? *in a slightly plaintive tone*
Me : Errr...really sorry about that. (Oh darn! I didn't think she noticed.) I'm just really tired today. *sheepish look*
Ms. Joanna : You always sleep sitting up, eyes shut with such a peaceful look on your face.
Me : Errr....okay. I'll try not to do it so peacefully next time.
Ms. Joanna : Yeah well, you've been doing it for amlost a year.
Me : *Chuckles shyly*
Ms. Joanna : Oh wait. You've been doing that since last year so its more than a year already.
Me :
O.o *slightly stunned*

And thought I was being really discreet about it! I guess she was just too nice to say anything about it before this. *blush*

On Wednesday...
Cla, Wai Ee, Nyat and I were in Bangsar so we decided to pop over to Cats Whiskers cause we heard they were having a sale. Everything in the shop was 50% off except for bottoms and skirts which were (can you believe it) 60% off! I totally didn't expect a sale of that magnitude and started trying on garments like some clothes-deprived person. I walked out of there with some tops and mind you, I showed some restraint. I so did not buy enough to feed a starving child in Africa, Wai Ee! I really wanna go to the other Cat Whiskers outlets to check out their sale goodies....Oh, and I bought my yoga bottoms too. =p

Today...
Stayed back for a netball tourney today and it bloody hell rained after 10 minutes into the game. Every single time I stay for netball, it pours cats and dogs. Aaargghhh...its so annoying! Our team had 4 shooters so I got subbed into WA which is quite tiring. I felt like I was being stabbed by a knife when half-time came up and I was practically gasping for air like a beached whale. I had to continuously remind myself not to run into the D-area and take up a shooting stance throughout those 7 neverending minutes. Oh and Wai Ee has a new fan! Join the club, boy. And take a number while you're at it. =p

Ber-McD's again with the girls and we have our usual catch-up girl talk. It was nice. =)

I need to stop pigging out so much, especially on McD's. Sigh. And I seriously need to cut down on shopping. Major sigh. I mean, the last time I bought so much clothes in less than 2 hours was like aeons ago. Discounting the shopping I did for CNY last month, of course. =p

Wearing of the green

Wearing of the green

I stay back for the yearbook photoshoot to come home and find that my family already ate lunch outside and they didn't tell me! Lucky thing I had breakfast already or I'd be starving! Grrr...

Major miscommunication between me and my parents and I'm lucky that they weren't very annoyed before going off to 1U for a movie with Cze Wien, Michelle, Wai Ee, Vincent and Thiam Beng. My dad drops me off at 1U almost 2 hours before the movie and he tells me to go shopping to kill time. I wisely keep my wisecracks to myself before exiting the car. =p

I spot this lovely pink pants which doesn't have my size, but they have a green version which is quite nice. However, when you compare the green and the pink, the pink looks nicer. =) But, I walk out of the store with a pair of....

C'mon, guess what I bought?

....blue jeans. Hehe. Yeap, here's your cue to shake your head in disbelief and roll your eyes. I'm actually considering going back to the store to get the green pants if its on further discount. After all, one can never have too many bottoms in various colours...

We watched 'Bridge of Terabithia' at 6.40pm. The show was kinda nice if you viewed it with a very artsy, symbolic and meaningful eye. Not so great if you viewed it with an visual-sense kinda eye. If you were looking for something like the 'Chronicles of Narnia' movie, than prepare to be not so satisfied. The ending was a bit unexpected and I'd personally prefer more 'Narnia' in it, but then again, its a personal taste. I think the girl looks like a very young Uma Thurman in the show 'Paycheck'. Note, before this, I was asking people if she looked like Thurman in the show 'Prime'. Sorry peeps, my bad. Its 'Paycheck' and not 'Prime' =)

Head over to the Curve for dinner and drinks. Only Wai Ee and I are eating as the rest already ate without us. Hmmph! =p We pick Kenny Rogers to find tables of people waiting for their food so we head over to Marche's where we split a rosti and a pizza. 2 rounds of Marche's in 7 days is more than enough for me. Marche's off my list for at least the next 6 weeks. Sook Teng, Zhen Quan and Karl Son join us at Marche and we all head off to Sanctuary for some drinks. Those shot glasses look like those RM1.20 test tubes from our secondary school labs.

I haven't done what I did in a very long time. Merde. A part of me is thankful that I was all alone. Another part wished that you were next to me. Its seriously merde. I kid you not.

Got up before noon on Saturday and I tell you, the whole day felt like Sunday to me. Cause I normally go out on Saturday, not on Friday nights. Went all the way down to Klang to eat Chinese food. Honestly, I don't really fancy eating Chinese food outside because I eat them all the time at home and also because Chinese restaurants tend to be dirtier and noisier. =p

Its Saint Patrick's day today. He's the chap who's famous for driving all the snakes from Ireland which is why Ireland has no snakes on it till today. Anyway, everyone's Irish on St. Paddy's day especially in the bars so drink up your Guinness, O honourary people of Ireland!

Frog Prince

I defected from Starbucks to Coffeebean for the first time in months. =p

For those not in the know, I used to drink only Coffeebean and had my first Starbucks only last year. So today I thought, "Maybe I'll give Coffeebean a shot after so many months..."

Was contemplating between the beans or the bucks at Bangsar Village II on the escalator down when suddenly, Coffeebean's signboard looms up.

The escalator was located right in front of Coffeebean and its lovely aroma!
What else am I to decided upon when its just right in front of me?!

I order one ice-blended chocolate and plop down on their comfy couches for a minute before hustling off to where I'm supposed to be. Oh, and I almost never ever order hot coffee. Its always an ice-blended something. More often than not, its an ice-blended choc. =)

Coffeebean is a bit more expensive than Starbucks, but its slightly bigger. Beans whipped cream seems softer than Bucks, but I find 2 lumps of unblended ice in the first 2 sips I take, which doesn't happen when I drink Starbucks. I seem to taste the powdery base in Beans. Beans ice-blended melts to pure liquid by less than an hour. Me no likey this part! Somehow I feel Starbucks seem to remain as ice-blended longer.

Anyway, the reason why I defected was because the last time I had a choc frappe from Starbucks, it came out on the tasteless and un-chocolatey side which got me annoyed.

Verdict : I think my next ice-blended choc will be from Starbucks. Or I might sample San Fran's or GloriaJeans if I come across them.

Btw, don't you think I deserve a round of applause for not eating McD's today?

This is such a random frog-jumping post about food.
Speaking about frogs...

Recently, I temporarily changed my old pencilbox to a pencilbox with a frog's head with hands and legs. Various people have been grabbing my pencilbox and playing with its Velcro-attached hands and sticking 'em in funny funny poses. Poor pitiful molested froggy, what torments you must have suffered at all of their hands...

What someone said to me about froggy...

Friend : You know, if you keep on kissing your frog, one day it might actually turn into your Prince Charming!
Me : Dot dot dot...

Errr...thanks for that advice, but I'm not that desperate to resort to kissing my pencilbox! =p

Moments of Truth

Moments of Truth

My phone died just before I went to bed and it wouldn't switch on no matter how frantically I tried. Before I left for college, I used my mum's phone to check my sim card for a few phone numbers, msges and calls. Just as I pick up an incoming call, my mum's phone dies of battery.

"Oh shit! Why lah I so damn suay one? Of all days, it picks today to give out on me!"

I can't remember Zhan Sheng's mobile number and he can't call me to see if I'm ready to go or not, cause my phone is offline. Really, really sorry yea Zhan Sheng, for troubling you so much this morning. And thanks for lending me your spare phone for today.

My dad's spare phone is currently in use as he sent in his dopod for repairs. Sigh. I think I shall have to walk around phoneless for the next few days or so until I can find/beg/steal/borrow a spare phone for temporary use. Phoneless, I'll probably feel so disconnected from everyone and I shall have to resort to lending other people's phones to make calls/msges or to the old trusty public phones, which are often vandalised. Sigh. I'll probably get dirty looks from friends who think I'm deliberately not picking up or not replying their calls and msges.

I didn't tell my parents that my results were coming out today as I only found out about it on Sunday but I did tell them last week that it'd be out on Friday. So I figured that if I got good enough results, it'd be great to give them a nice surprise and if I didn't get good enough results, well than there's not much harm in me keeping it to myself a lil longer is there? ;)

Anyway, I collected my exam results this morning and I'm not saying anything more about it here for now. Except that I was kinda thunderstruck for a bit at what an unexpected surprise it was. Weird man, its a tad unusual. Okay, its more than a tad unusual. On second thought however, maybe its not that unusual, considering that the person in question is me after all. =p

I stopped blogging for a bit to enjoy the fireworks in the sky. I totally love fireworks. Catherine wheels, bottle rockets, sparklers, ground spinners, pinwheels, flares, Roman candles...Just love 'em all. Except for the fact that they pollute the air and its so expensive. Its like watching your money burn and blaze in the sky. But I find fireworks so pretty and romantic. It simply lights up the sky and sparkles in the dark night. The nicest and longest display I've ever seen was on New Year's Eve at the 20th World Scout Jamboree in Thailand. It was so long that my neck hurt so badly from looking upwards in the sky for so long. =p

On the way home from college, Amery suddenly spots her mum's car next to my mum's car on the road. With her mum on the phone, Amery couldn't call her mum's mobile to tell her that she's next to us. As the traffic was all jammed up, she quickly hopped from our car to her mum's car where her mum looked up in surprise to see her knocking on the backseat door.

I simply laughed at the hilarity of the situation before I gently broke the surprise of my exam results to my mum. And I must say she took it fairly well and she was alright with my results. =)

I'm off to watch my 9.30 show and I'm at peace with the world for now. =D

Doomsday Dawns

Doomsday Dawns

Yesterday, I received a call from a 03-27xxxxxx number. Knowing that area code to be Pusat Bdr D'sara/Bangsar, I guessed it would either be that guy from Fitness First who has been enthusiastically calling me of late in hope that I will give in to his persistency and sign up for Fitness First or from HELP. I sorta guessed it was the Fitness First and was all ready to give my polite rejection speech when the voice I hear is suddenly so familiar.

Caller : Hello, may I speak to Siew Yen?
Me : Yes, speaking. *very familiar voice ah, who is this?*
Caller : You know who am I or not?
Me : (lightbulb goes off in my head) Err...yeah I know. Its you right, Zhan Sheng?
Caller : Yeap. I'm calling you to ask you to go for your yearbook photoshoot this Friday as you missed your one the last time round.
Me : Aiya! Need to meh? Lazy larr...Btw, what on earth are you doing in HELP on a Sunday?
Zhan Sheng : I'm working off my internship hours la!
Me : Oh, I forgot that you're an intern!

The funny coincidence of getting called by your friend interning at college on a Sunday of all days. I thought HELP was only open on Sundays during student recruitment season. =p

Later at night while chatting online with a college friend...

-William- :
>Dear all, >You can collect your Term Results from the Lower Foyer this coming >Tuesday 10am onwards from the Lower Foyer, Main Block. >Jasmine
¢ћŐcøŁãŦěÄŋ§ē! :
haha

-William- :
tuesday? not friday huh
¢ћŐcøŁãŦěÄŋ§ē! :
huh? isnt it friday?

-William- :
came from nisha...check ur mail ;)
¢ћŐcøŁãŦěÄŋ§ē! :

i got it, but i think i automatically read it as friday. eh, you tipu me ah?
-William- :
what? wat tipu u? i read wrongly?
¢ћŐcøŁãŦěÄŋ§ē! :
i dunno. but i seriously tot it was friday lorr...you sure its this tuesday?

-William- :
i copied paste from the email...how can i be wrong? u read urself.. >Dear all, >You can collect your Term Results from the Lower Foyer this coming >Tuesday 10am onwards from the Lower Foyer, Main Block>Jasmine. i kinda thought it was friday too after reading the email..i read again then i was like..eh
¢ћŐcøŁãŦěÄŋ§ē! :
ahhh...shit!

For one second there, I seriously thought he was pranking me. Not that I didn't trust him, but I was just checking to ensure that I didn't end up the butt of a practical joke when I walk into college the next day panickedly asking everyone about the results. =p

I automatically read 'Tuesday' as 'Friday' cause I was told way earlier that results were coming out on Friday the 16th, not Tuesday! Bloody hell, I was casually floating along and enjoying life as I thought doomsday was on Friday. Sigh.

I have 10 hours+ before I collect my results. Uurrggh! I think I'll be all jittery and get sensations of wanting to throw up from nerves while waiting to collect my results and debating with myself on whether to look at the result slip there and than or to bring it home untouched to open it carefully in the privacy of my studyroom and solace of my computer.

Thank God for friends that are the human equivalent of a Prozac/choc frappe/good book/warm bath/chocolate/sitting in front of the fire all warm and cozy/relaxing a hammock by the beach/partying the night away/just chilling or whatever it takes to make you calm and able to face life's storms straight in the face.

I am blessed to know you. =)

Cinderella's cauldron

Cinderella's cauldron

Haven't been updating my blog as I've had a hectic 4 days. I'll make up for it now so be warned, its gonna be a super long post. =)

Thursday :
College as usual. Won back some from Wil Liam and Ee Wei. (This is getting addictive =p) Went for netball with Wai Ee and Sook. There were 2 guys training alongside us in netball which is a good thing as it helps us girls to improve. Also, we don't get any 'contact' from them because they have to stay far away from us which works out quite well if you're a shooter. Hehe. Other than that, it was nice to exercise again though my whole playing is so damn off form and my stamina is pathetically low.

Friday :
College as usual. My dad picks me up late and in turn makes me late for camp. Arrive 40 minutes late in school without any dinner. Karl Son, Huey-In and Zhen Quan pop by and Karl stays to 'yum char' with us later. As told to me by someone...

Mr. Ravi : Who's car is that? *in a slightly belligerent tone*
Huey-In : That's my mum's car.

Dot dot dot. What an answer!

I get served Maggee Mee for dinner, typical camp food. Thanks for cooking it. =) I end up doing some Math work as I have spare time on my hands. Caroline, Beng, Karl and I have McD's for supper where I eat a choc sundae *yummy!* which is bad, cause supper is bad for your waistline and its ice-cream with chocolate sauce which is calorie-loaded which makes it even worse.

Quotes Wai Ee, "
McD's is evilllll!"

Saturday :
Happy 19th birthday Lim Cze Wien! Have a blessed and happy birthday surrounded by loving friends and family.

Early dental appointment and I'm off to school to help out at camp. Went out for brunch and I get to eat my 'yau char kwai' from outside Chow Yang which is like the bestest place to buy 'yau char kwai'. A direct translation from Canto to English would be 'yau char kwai' = 'oil fried devils'. What an apt name since they're so oily but they're so nice and crispy and warm that they devilishly tempt you to have another stick of them. Okay, this is starting to sound like a 'Siew Yen-pigs-out-as-usual' kinda post.

We're supposed to plan a commando cross for the juniors and we relish every second of planning mind-numbing, bone-cutting weary obstacles for them to cross. Though I think they got off rather easy as we couldn't do a lot of stuff to them that were done to us when we were juniors. Water playing was limited as most girls were wearing white shirt and they didn't have spare scout pants to change into. I distinctly remember one particularly gruelling commando cross where we had run around the field piggyback, carry a bakau and run around the field and do push-ups in the mud. I can't imagine how I managed to survive all that. *shakes head in disbelief* Michelle and I plot wickedly and tie strings to divide the corridor into tiny compartments into which the juniors have to cross through without touching any of the strings or they'll get punished. Hehehe...*rubs hands gleefully* Yeap, I'm mean and she's evil so what do you expect?!

Poor Vincent ends up doing 50 push-ups cause he loses a bet with the juniors.
Lesson learnt : Don't bet with the juniors unless you know you're going to win. =p

Rush home with keys that don't belong to me. Oops, sorry! Wasn't intentionally done, ya know... After church, I meet up with the rest at Talipon where we celebrate Cze, Michi's and Beng's birthday. Its a steamboat/bbq buffet thing. We see Chuan Abee and some familiar college faces at the restaurant. I don't really do steamboat as I'm more focused on the bbq. Its quite smokey and steam keeps blowing at me. The margarine keeps on splattering people randomly so there was a lot of yelps and chair-scraping as we all try to avoid getting spattered by hot planta. I don't really eat much cause my tummy has passed its hunger stage and I can't kick-start it back. Besides, I'm not quite in the mood to pig out.

We head to The Curve for a drink where we run into May Vern. I also meet an old friend there, which is a quirky coincidence; meeting a church friend at of all places, a bar. We split a jug of sangria and chat while doing some people-watching. We spot a mother carrying her baby outside the bar. Talk about getting into the partying scene young. =p I decide not to finish all of my drink as my face is warming up and I don't wanna go home all flushed and red. And no, I'm not drunk (How can anyone get drunk on one glass of sangria anyway?). I just have excellent blood circulation. Thanks for the ride home, Cze. I hope you, Mich and Beng had a jolly time. I turn into a pumpkin and slowly drift off to sleep pleasantly with damp hair all over my pillow.

Sunday :
I proceed to sleep in and I get poked awake by my mother. Continue an ongoing battle with my math work. My sister calls from Boston where she is holidaying while I'm working my brains off on the Sabbath. Grrr...! Pop into the club library while my brother learns how not to drown.

We head out for dinner at The Curve. What, so soon again? Yeap, you heard me right. My mum is bored of 1U, so we decide to go to The Curve and see what's good to eat. We end up going to Marche's as I don't want Chinese food and my dad doesn't want Fridays or Italiannies. Besides, my brother really likes Marche and he calls it 'the restaurant that has all those cows where you can walk around and chose what you want'. Today, I try to be good and cut down on my calorie intake as we plan to go to Paddington's later. I only have a mushroom soup and a salmon & cheese rosti. Sadly, I got tempted by this luscious looking chocolate gannaca and I decide to split it with my mum. The choc cream was rich enough, but the actual cake wasn't moist enough.

We head over to Paddington's House of Pancakes (PHOP) and we all share this 'dollar pancake thing' which has ermm...strawberries, bananas, hazelnut cream, dollar pancakes, honey, coconut flesh and ice cream and some other delightful stuff that I can't remember. The pancake dish is nice, but the place is a bit warm and the service there isn't that great. I might consider popping in there another time though.

I somehow feel like this weekend flew past me on super-sized wings. Actually, weekends seem to go by faster and faster ever since I started having Friday classes again and I need a longer reprieve from the weekday grind. I really need to start prioritizing things. And fast, before my entire schedule slam bangs into one whole gory mess.

I so want a 3 day weekend.
I crave a choc frappe right now.
And mostly, I need you to help me relook things in your own laidback way.
Its like winding down in comfy pj's with a good book.
Solid, relaxed, reassuring, present and comfortable.

Bard blossoms

On the way to college, I caught a glimpse of something through the car window which simply made my lips curve into a smile without any coercion or pretense.

It was a heapful of orange and pink bougainvillea's (I think) that were growing over a wall of a rather large house. It was something like those old English country houses which had ivy creepers covering an entire wall, except this one was bougainvillea's.

Which made me recall Shakespeare's Sonnet 18...
"Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May."

It was such a picturesque, solace-inducing sight.

Didn't have McD's for lunch which was a sort of relief as McD's have become a weekly routine. Decided to try something new and headed for the coffee shop, but it didn't look like it would provide a nice and worthwhile meal. I suggested going to that 'pan mee' place which Joanne went to yesterday but we couldn't find it, though Joanne said that its near Pizza Hut. Huh, Bangsar got Pizza Hut one meh? Somebody wanna tell me where Pizza Hut is?

Cla wanted to check out Bangsar Village 2 so we off we went and we ended up in Fish & Co cause there wasn't anything else nicer/cheaper to eat. I've eaten in Fish & Co quite a few times before, but I've never tried their fish and chips till today. Yup, I'm deadly serious. =) I normally try to split the seafood platter with someone. Didn't feel quite satisfied with Fish & Co's service though, so next time we should just stick to McD's horr? =p

Went to Cziplee where I saw this ballpoint pen in purple that was really nice and it was also cheap. Whee! 2 major scoring points. Before finally paying at the counter...

Me : (saying to myself) Do I really need it? *this is what I always do to other people*
*Silence*
Me : (before the others can interject and say something sarcastic) Nope, I don't need it but I'm still gonna buy it cause its cheap and I like it! *grins smugly*

Told 'ya it doesn't work on me. ;)

If you could choose again, what would you chose?
If you could ask again, who would you ask?
If you could speak again, what would you say?
If you could fly again, would you fly away?
Instead of parting again, would you rather stay?

If again ever existed, what would you do?

It may seem insignificant, but its still thoughtful of you.
Thank you for being once again so sweet.

Catnap
9:26 PM
Catnap

I've noticed that I always doze off in my Tuesday's 2-4pm Stats class between 2.45-3.15pm. I don't know why exactly that particular time, but I swear it happens almost every Tuesday.

This is how I start catnapping...
Stage 1: My eyes feel tired and I have to blink furiously to keep my eyes open. Gosh, I hope my lecturer doesn't think that I'm flirting with her.
Stage 2 : I nod off every now and then, not because I'm attentively listening and displaying my comprehension but because I'm so sleepy. My handwriting gets uglier and I make some illegible marks on my paper.
Stage 3 : I cover my face with my hands at every excuse to catch a few seconds of shut-eye.
Stage 4 : My head goes down on to the desk the second that my lecturer isn't looking my way.
Stage 5 : Somehow, I'm suddenly rejuvenated and I pay perfect attention for the rest of the lesson like a model student. Seriously. =)

This catnap thing works wonders for me during Stats. Sometimes it works during Econs and Accounts also when I'm tired. It doesn't work that often for 8am law lectures. Somehow, my catnap keeps on going till the end of class. =p

I wonder why they call it catnap and not dognap or bunnynap. Or chicknap. Maybe its because cats are always stretching and napping, hmmm? Or maybe its cause catnap sounds cooler. Hehe.

Meowww!

The 1st milestone

The 1st milestone

This is the 100th published post of my blog.

"Happy 100th post, my dear blog!" *confetti showers down and fireworks sparkle*

When I first started this blog, this milestone of a 100 published posts seemed like a mile away. Far, far away from my humble fingers as an insignificant beginner. But today, its a 100 posts old and it feels like I set up my blog just yesterday only.

Ah, how swiftly the sands of time flies.

There were times when it was so frustrating to have to struggle as a newbie with html, having to self-censor certain items as I didn't exactly know who would be reading this and what the consequences of me publishing publicly certain things and oh, the list goes on and on.

But now, blogging has become so automatic to me that when I turn on the computer, after logging on to MSN and checking my e-mail, I straight away open blogger to blog. And it has become such a part of my daily routine that I'll just automatically think, "Oh, I must blog about that!" when something that is happy, interesting, funny, sad or something happens that makes me want to bookmark a particular event or day.

I'd like to thank those who sub-consciously and consciously made me decide to start up this blog, those who helped me when I was a rookie at blogging and html, those of you out there who are reading this now, though I may or may not know you personally or know that you are even reading this, and last but not least, the people who help inspire the creation of my blog posts.

I know that sounded Oscar-ish, but I'm a courteous person who wants to thank others, ok. I hope that I'll be able to keep this blog alive and kicking at least till the next milestone that pops up, which will be my 200th published posts or my blog's 1st birthday, whichever comes first.

My blog's 100th published posts day also coincides with another happy event, Michelle Teoh's 19th birthday. Dear Michelle, happy 19th birthday and may you have a joyous and blessed birthday surrounded by loving family and friends. God bless!

Tipsy Tales

Happy 19th Birthday Do Clareen!

Went for Clareen's birthday bash at her place in Puchong. Wai Ee, Charmaine and I followed Amery there and back as her parents were kind enough to fetch us. Thanks, Amery! =)

Wai Ee and I were like jacoons while sitting in Amery's Naza Ria cause we were fiddling around with the backseat stuff and "ooh-ing" and "ahh-ing" around. It was like sitting in an aeroplane, the seats were plushily roomy and had loads of legroom, there was a mini table that unfolded like those on the plane in front of us and there were 2 DVD players also. So cool, right? Hehe. I know that I'm being kampung girl-ish, but I don't have a Ria at home, ok. It was a good thing we were in such a big and high vehicle, cause when we arrived near Cla's area, the roads were pretty flooded until we could see a plastic chair floating by half-submerged. I was so thankful I was not in a Kancil, cause if I was, I'd be seriously worried whether I'd get stuck in the floods.

Arrived at Cla's place and met her primary and secondary school friends and her relatives. All her relatives were wearing different shades of red, so it was fairly easy to pick out who was a relative, or so I thought.
The girls all seriously sober at the beginning of the party

A whole bunch of us HELP-ians sat down at a table and ate, but somehow, table conversation was rather subdued. There were 2 Robyn/Robin's at the table, and when Cla called Robyn/Robin, both the Robyn/Robin's turned and looked at her. So we decided to differentiate them by calling them 'Robyn girl' and 'Robin boy'. How original. =p
The spread of food Birthday girl, Wai Ee and Amery

I said something sarcastic to Bernice and she hit my hand which was holding a spoonful of food. Before you could say, "Shit!" the food landed on my less than 5 months old light pink pants. I was still a little stunned as I saw the food fly and I scanned the spotless floor for the food. Then, I looked down at my pants and saw the rice and curry.

"SHITBLOODYHELL!" *mentally spoken, of course*

I run to the bathroom and try to sponge it off with an abject Bernice hovering next to me. I don't have the heart to tell her that saffron powder from curry almost never comes out. And even if it does come out, you'd probably have to use enough Dynamo that will leave white streaks on the fabric. Believe me, I know from past experiences. Sigh.

A bit later, the wine and Chivas comes out and people start getting high and tipsy. I could have sworn that some of them (whom I won't mention by name) were drunk although they noisily and insistently protested that they were sober. They weren't quite staggering around and puking but they had red-faces and they were definitely more high and way noisier than they were normally. From what I've seen and heard, people normally get noisier and rowdier as they consume more alcohol. So the louder you protest that you're sober, the tipsier you probably are. There are a few exceptions like me, who easily get red from the tiniest bit of alco but still stone-cold sober. Well, sober enough to count till 21 can already lah. ;)
All sober cause the wine & Chivas+coke just made their entry Let's play 'Who can spot the tipsy girls?'

We spent most of the night "hoi toi-ing" and camwhoring. When we were playing cards in the study, the "drunk but supposedly sober" group floated in, made loads of noise and went out. And they did that a few times. Combined with their hyperness and loudly insane laughter, they really seemed drunk, or at the very least, rather tipsy.

Robyn and I were supposed to share a cup of Chivas and Coke as we didn't want to drink that much, but after the first few sips, I decided I preferred the red wine for now. It tasted alright in the beginning but the aftertaste left in your mouth was that of a cardboard taste. We ended up ditching the cup. =p

I got framed by everyone just because I asked Clareen "Who's that guy ah?" when I saw a newcomer wearing red walk past. And I asked not because I'm interested, but because the guy is wearing red and I can't figure out if he's a friend or a relative. And everybody does the whole high-school routine of telling the guy that I'm interested in him. They even put it down to me being drunk, but I seriously swear I wasn't drunk even though my face was quite red. I just have very good blood circulation. Even at Cze's 18th b'day party, I drank a few cups of fruit punch that had very little alcohol in it and I turned red also. Anyway, when Cla intro's him to us, everyone goes, "Its ok, you no need to remember us, just remember Siew Yen can already." And when he takes pictures for us, they said, "Nevermind if the rest of us don't look nice, Siew Yen nice can already lar."

Thank you so much, my oh so wonderful friends!!! *glares daggers at them*
I'm so not asking anymore who a person is if I see a stranger at a party. Hmmph!

Wil Liam brought over this Jumbo pack of plastic cards which he just bought. The cards were practically the size of my palms, meaning it was about 2x the size of regular cards. I don't think I could have shuffled the deck cause my hands were too small for them. Haha. We teach Bernice and Robyn how to play Texas Hold 'Em and they repay us by winning almost every single round.
All her friends gathered around her after singing her a birthday song
College friends pictures with her 2 cakes - 1 coffee, the other chocolate
College friends. You should be able to spot the tipsy ones. =p

On the way back in the car, Wai Ee and I chit-chatted and as usual, camwhore with Charmaine and Amery. Amery's mum was so nice as to turn on the car lights and take our pictures for us.
Camwhored in the car. Hehe.

The party was really fun and we all had a good time. It was nice being able to celebrate Cla's b'day, see Robyn again and to just sit back, play cards and chit-chat with friends. Not to mention the camwhoring and laughing at the tipsy people. =p

Pretty princesses posies

Skipped my photoshoot for the A-Levels yearbook to go to 1U today. Hehe. It was gonna be a mug shot and I totally do not like mug shots because I don't look nice in them. So why bother going? Simone and Wil Liam very kindly gave me a lift to 1U as they were headed there too.

Met up with Thiam Beng who got caught by this fella from GSC/TGV to do a survey cause he was waiting outside the cinema for me as I was late for half an hour plus. Sorry yea. =)

Surveyor : So which of the following drinks have you drunk in the the following month? Pepsi, Yeo's, Sprite etc. ?
Thiam Beng : Nothing. Only water and Milo. *I stifle my laughter*
Surveyor : Even now CNY also you didn't drink any of this drinks ah?
Thiam Beng : No *I turned away as I nearly started laughing*
Surveyor : Wah, very good very good. You so healthy arr...

I bet you the surveyor knew Beng was lying and said that to be polite and for lack of nothing else to say. Haha. Well, he got 2 free passes to TGV for 10 minutes of his time doing that survey.

We can't decide what to eat so we hit the shops first. I gleefully walk into Elle which has a huge '1/2 price off everything' sign. Vincent meets us here and I'm pleasantly surprised again at seeing a nice collared long-sleeved shirt and pants which is so maturedly working styled. Did you guys conspire to wear so nicely today or is it just me who isn't so maturedly dressed, hmm?

After trying on several items, I realize that the clothes that I want are either too tight or too loose. Dang! Oh and that '1/2 price off everything' sign has the words '1st item full price. 2nd item half price' in really really small print right at the bottom of the sign. Saw some pretty dresses but I didn't get them as there wasn't a valid reason to, other than for the fun of splurging.

My teacher once said that guys do better at a chapter of math which requires you to visualize the image of a 3D item to find the correct 'satah' and angles and I always agreed whole-heartedly with her till today. My solid belief in this has been shaken by the fact that you both find it so difficult to visualize a certain 3D form, to remould and re-image it. Tsk-tsk. *shakes head* Or maybe you both just don't want to make the decision, horr?

Head over to Axxezz to look at some girly items and I find what I've been looking for. Its not the one, but its not too bad lar. I've always wanted an earring-holder to hang all my dangly earrings on and I found one today that looks like it can hang quite a few pairs. The drawback is, it looks oldish and it costs RM89.90. If I'm ever going to pay that much, I'd want it to be perfect. =)

Than we go to Jusco to look for Vincent's cufflinks. Before that..
Vin : Blah blah...cufflinks.
Me : *Having wrongly heard the word movie in the previous sentence* You want to watch the movie 'Halfling' ? Sounds err familiar-ish...but I don't really know what it is.
Vin : Huh? *stares blankly* I'm not quite sure what cufflinks are, but don't they have something to do with the shirt? *points to the holes in his shirt cuff*
Me : OH! Cufflinks izzit? *proceeds to explain the meaning of cufflinks to him*

Head back to the new wing to look at more pretty things where we dither around more. Vincent's msg tone was the sound of a wolf-whistle and the first time it sounded, I discreetly tried to find the source of that offending sound to eyeball him with a very dirty look only to realise that it's coming from Vincent's pocket. Oops. But I think the saleslady was also doing the same thing. Hehe.

Thiam Beng was starving by now but I staved him off by offering Vincent's arm as a snack to munch on as I wanted to go back to the old wing to pick up something.

See, who says some humans aren't cannibals in the 21st-century?

I never bothered to go into Axxezz much, but after taking a closer look at their products today, I think I'll go back to that shop more frequently. After all, they sell nice Ascot-ish hats and a lovely slipover for the back for your hairbrush which is really lovely and wouldn't look out of place on a princess's dressing table. =p Plus their service seems pretty good too.

At the shop counter where there is a Visa Wave scanner..
TB : Oh look, there's a Visa Wave.
Me : Yeah, that's a Visa Wave.
TB : Look at me *waves his hand in front of the scanner* Oh, its not working.
Me : Umm..that's because you're not Visa? *looks around to see if the shop assistant saw him doing that*
I alternately want to burst out laughing/hide my face from embarassment. Hehe.

Karl Son and Zhen Quan are supposed to meet us by now so we sit outside Vincci's and wait. After 10 minutes, I get impatient and I make them call up Karl Son to hurry him up. After more than 20 minutes of staring at my feet in a mirror, I get fed up and the guys are hungry so we go to KFC for a late lunch.

Sigh, I guess I can't escape from fast food. =(
And who says that only girls are the ones that are always late? =p

At KFC when Karl, Zhen and Huey-in meet us, Vin starts telling us about his experience at a cybercafe where he was playing CS and there was a guy who was quite good at it (whom I shall call A) and that guy's even more pro friend (whom I shall call Z) who was advising A.

Scenario : Vince and A are the only one left in that round. Vin has an AK-47, A has a pistol.
A : *says to his friend* Aiyo, sure lose wan la. That fella (Vin) got AK-47 but I only got pistol.
Z : Aiya, that fella so stupid also you can kena kill by him wan meh *in cantonese*
Result : Vincent kills that guy. Haha. *smirks*

Walk around a bit before Karl Son gives me a ride back home. During the ride home, he enjoys making me scream at him to hit the brakes or my indrawn gasps of shock. I arrive home in one piece *phew!* and still breathing. Hehe. Jangan marah ya, Karl Son. =)

Come home and correct 2 pages of Microsoft Word with liberal doses of sarcasm that is supposed to be a proposal, but it doesn't even look like one to me. I tell you, kids nowadays have it too easy...*shakes head*

Antithesis

Antithesis

Just as yesterday was such a lovely day, today turned out to be the total opposite.

Firstly, law class cancelled, which was sort of a nice thing (though I hope my lecturer is alright) cause it means I can go for netball. Secondly, my Math lecturer is on the 4th chapter and I'm 2 chapters behind in homework and I don't know what she's doing. Today in class...

Lecturer : So how many of you did this question
Complete silence...
Lecturer : Wait, how many of you actually finished your homework?
Still complete silence...
Lecturer : You really need to keep up to date with your homework, this is the final term of A-Levels blah blah blah. What's the point of me teaching on when you have to keep trying to catch up. So do you want me to continue teaching on?

Me : No
Stunned silence and people turn around to look at me. Oops. Hehe.

I didn't expect the class to be so quiet. But honestly, I was just voicing out what at least 75% of the class feels. Its just that they're too scared or shy or they just don't care and don't wanna say it out loud. Well, excuse me for being honest and bold enough to say it out loud!

Rush off to Stats class because there's about 50-odd students and its a 1 hour class and most students who want to pay attention in class generally don't want to sit right at the back. The
Stats students crowd the hallway outside the classroom and wait for the current lecturer to get out. After a few peeks in the clear plastic pane, we can see that their class is over but they seem to be taking their own sweet time to get out of class.

Because there wasn't anyone emerging from the room, 2 of my classmates got fed up and went in. We started to enter the room as there wasn't a steady stream of out-coming students. When about half the class was filled and more of my classmates were coming in, the lecturer told us off for coming into the room eventhough it wasn't vacated.

Lecturer : What happened to courtesy? Even before you board an elevator, you step aside to let people out before getting in so why should this be any different? I have heard that you A 46 students are a learned batch so you shouldn't be needing me, a senior lawyer to tell you this kind of thing. If you ever go to court and show this kind of manners yadda yadda yadda...

Well, yes, technically we weren't very polite in entering the room before you vacated but if you looked at the clock on the wall, it was past 11.05 and technically you're supposed to finish your class at 11. And also if you had noticed, there are 50-odd students who have to stand in the hallway waiting for you and your students to vacate the area.

And while we understand that you end up finishing late sometimes, the least you could do when you finish late is to ask your students to move out of class swiftly so we can come in. Or lead by example and answer your students question outside the classroom.

And if you say our manners don't hold up in court etc., what about your version of punctuality? (This point was put forward by Wai Ee. =p) If you're supposed to finish at 11 then finish it by 11. If you're supposed to be in court at 11 and you come in at 11.05, the presiding judge will probably strike your case off and you have to wait for another round and get sued for malpractice by your irate client. So how's that for court manners, Sir/Madam Senior Lawyer?

And yes, I admit again that we learned students were in breach of etiquette by entering the classroom before the lecturer left. But had the lecturer and his/her students left on time, we wouldn't have to stand outside and finally walk into the class and display our discourtesy.

So after those stinging remarks, we went on to accounts class where we muddled our way thorough the lesson as usual. Lunched at Mama's Kitchen (which I said I'd never go there again after my sour fishballs) and played there and lost some of what I won the previous day.

Through out the 2 hour lunch, made quite a few calls to determine if Sook Teng, Wai Ee and I were staying back for netball and if we were not, how we were going home cause it was raining. Zhan Sheng, thanks very much for offering to fetch us back eventhough you were at your friends house "hoi toi-ing" and for putting up with us and coming back eventhough we changed our minds and decided to stay back. Thank you. =)

From nEutral...
Siew called Zhansheng both times, and I assume Zhansheng said he was going to scold her or something like that, because Sook heard Siew going, "Don't scold me now, you can scold me when go home k"... and Sook was like, "I didn't know Siew stays in the same house as Zhansheng". Hahahaha. *wink wink*

I have an excellent explanation for the above paragraph and all its insinuations. Firstly, Zhan Sheng didn't or hadn't scolded me yet, but I felt so bad about calling him up and changing our decisions that I decided that it'd be okay if he scolded me. Just that I'd prefer he scold me (if he really want to) later cause my phone credit was ticking away. But Zhan Sheng, you won't scold me cause you very nice one right? =) Secondly, I meant scold me later as in when I was back home then he can scold me lar. Aiyoh, Sook Teng ah Sook Teng, like that also you can think of ah? And Wai Ee is no innocent angelic bystander, horr?

So put away all those smutty thoughts and naughty insinuations from your mind, okay. And Wai Ee, my parang is being sharpened. Hehe.

Decided to wait till 5.45 for Sook's mum to pick us up so we went to McD's to grab a bite and do homework. I resisted temptation and did not get anything as I had lunch 2 hours ago and I had McD's yesterday. However, we ended up playing Chor Dai Dee for fun instead of doing work. =p

Saw Ezra outside the lower foyer and he very kindly fetched me back and we talked about some really random subjects. Hehe. I am random at times la.

My 9.30 drama ended today. It was sort of a happy ending. But I always feel sad when my tv drama's end and I quite liked that drama show.

I know that its wrong to judge, but sometimes I think that you should take a step back and look at what you're doing. Yes, it is within your right to do what you did, but is what you did actually right? Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it. I think I feel sorry for you if you cannot see or grasp that much. I should know, someone swept me off my feet and made me re-look everything from a different angle. And as for you, I'm sorry for you and I sympathize with you. Once more, Murphy's Law proves itself true.
