Birthday Season

Birthday Season

I kinda realised that its the season for birthdays.

For a start, my family members have birthdays in the last 4 months of the year. So there's usually chocolate cake in the fridge during the birthday season. And its not only my family, there are also quite a number of friends who have birthdays around this time.

Anyway, today is my lil brother's birthday. And I was so caught up in my own things that I haven't managed to buy a present for him. *guilt meter going on*

He was soooo super excited about his birthday today that he woke up extra-early.

I was feeling rather groggy and hovering between the borders of sleep and wakefulness when..

Bro : Jie-jie, today is my birthday. You haven't wished me yet.
Me : Oh yeah horr, today's your birthday. Happy birthday. *sleepily wishes him and shakes his hand*

Then he happily runs downstairs to eat his breakfast and open his present. I look at the clock and think, its only 8.20am and I get awoken by him to wish him happy birthday. Bloody hell, I'm so going back to bed.

I realised today that time flies by so fast. It seems as though I was just carrying my bro around and listening to him baby-talk just the other day. Now, he's getting a bit too heavy for me to carry around.

Just last week, I was pouring Dettol on a wound and screaming in the bathroom when he came running in and said to me..

Bro : What happened? Why you screaming?
Me : Cause painful la. *gritting my teeth and glaring at him cause I thought he was gonna laugh at me*
Bro : Don't scream la. The more you make noise the more painful it is. Nah, I let you hold my hand so you won't feel so pain, ok.
Me : So if its painful can I squeeze your hand? *quite surprised and touched by his sweetness*
Bro : Can...

I said the same words to him last time, and now he's saying it back to me. I feel so old. I'll probably end up an old maid in the blink of an eye. How I wish I could slow down the clock and enjoy these little moments with my bro.

Anyway, if you happen to be reading this (which I highly doubt will happen), Happy Birthday bro!
