And once again, the fun begins

And once again, the fun begins

This is the 6th year running that me and a bunch of friends do the rounds to err..visit one another, gamble, make merry and to collect angpao's. =p We used to walk under the blazing sun from house to house but ever since last year, things have gotten easier as some of us can drive.

So this year the starting point was my house. I gave strict notice to be there at 10am or no angpao as my parents would be out of the house. Mind you, its a decent way of getting punctuality though some people will come Malaysian timing lah. Hehe. Wai Ee and Sook Teng were the first (see, who says girls aren't punctual?) and everyone was at my place py 10.30-ish. Wai Ee, my bro is cute because it runs in the family lah. =p Earlier on, I had to call people up to practically beg them to drive as there was a shortage of drivers. On that day itself, Thiam Beng, Andrew, Karl Son and Wai Ee drove. Wai Ee decided to leave her car at my house as there wasn't any need for her to drive and we all hopped into Thiam Beng's Camry.

Cze: So kesian, why no one sit in Karl Son's car wan? (It was only Karl & Zhen Quan in that car)
Wai Ee: Choose between a Camry (Beng's car) and a Wira (Karl's car). =p
Beng: *laughs* Wah, too much.

This girl has the same Camry at home and she still wants to sit a Camry. But, if I was in her shoes, I'd chose the same thing too. Hehe.

So we headed to Cze's place and ate her potato chips and whisky and sake sweets from Japan. Kah Yand and Andrew did their magic thing and we all learnt a new game, "8 or 9" from Cze and Beng, Karl, Zhen and I played "Yahoo Poker" which is actually "Texas Hold 'Em Poker ", I think. The stakes ran into millions. The most absurd stakes were 8 million and 1 dollar and 50 cents. Haha. Yang and Drew left us at this point to go for a gathering at Nigel's place. Hopped back into the Camry where Michelle sneakily manoeuvred Sook so that she could sit in the centre and get all the air-cond. Hmmph...Michelle you meanie, I'm sitting in the centre the next time. =p
All the girls at Cze's place

Drew and Yang magicking before they disappeared to Nigel's place

Off we went to Karl Son's house where the guys disappeared to play Maple and the girls played chor dai dee and had some girl talk.

We took pics at every house we visited

The guys at Karl's place.
Stopped off for a curry noodle lunch in SS2 where Karl Son went to pick up his sister and Sueh Lung joined us. We decided to go to Yang's house and Wai Ee beat me to chup-ing the cute orange hand chair that is in his computer room. Eesh...Anyway, we all ended up in the living room munching on his 'lil crabs that tasted a bit like those dried sotong. Not exactly my cup of tea, but each to his own poison I suppose. Turned on his giant TV to find that "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" was on Astro. Yay! I totally totally love that show even if it doesn't make much sense cause Brad Pitt is simply super hot and yummy and Angelina Jolie is so sexy and dishy too! Yang's chocolate chip cookies were also yummy and made the perfect companion to the sizzling hot show. Hehe. Yang gave an impromptu piano performance which took our eyes temporarily off Hollywood's golden couple as it was a surprise to all of us that he knew how to play the piano.

Yang at the piano

Upon leaving Yang's house for Sueh's house, it was like playing merry-go-round around the field as the cars went in opposite directions. On the way to Sueh Lung's house...
Sueh Lung : Eh, how to go ah?
All of us : Your house you dunno how to go, ask us how to go ah? *laughs*

We end up getting there the last and everyone was waiting in the drizzle for him to go in first cause its his house. Haha.

As Sueh doesn't have the movies package for Astro, we all turn to gambling while waiting for the heavy rain to stop. In-between, 8 and 9, blackjack, chor dai dee...I think we ran out of games to play and as the rain had lessened, we decided to brave it for Thiam Beng's house.

Somehow this year visiting is rather quiet and we don't play much at Beng's house except for Drew and Yang who play Magic. We really should consider banning the Magic shouldn't we? But than those 2 will boycott us from then on. Hehe. And I'm so bored that I play cards with myself. Beng's grandmother came out to chat with us for a bit. Such a sweet nice lady. =)

The rest zoom off to Drew's house but I decided to take a raincheck as I was running very late for church. I kinda forgot that Wai Ee left her car at my place till halfway home. Church service is extra-long and I'm so tired that I nearly nodded-off and I suddenly remember that I left my DVD's in Thiam Beng's car. Oh bother it all!

Its pouring rain again after church and I rush home to change and pick up my food. As I was about to leave the house, this guy dressed in white walks past my house and I think, "Hey, that guy looks familiar." Then, the same guy turns and comes back to my house again and I realise that its Vincent. Haha. Somehow, Cze forgot to tell him that the potluck was at Wai Ee's place so he came to my house. He couldn't remember exactly which house it was and he wondered why there were no cars and no noise outside my house, which pretty much explained his puzzled expression. Hehe.

Vincent offers to fetch me to Wai Ee's place and we stop to pick Cze and Mich up. Reached Wai Ee's house around 8.10 and I get sarcastic comments as I said I'd be there around 7.30. Sorry girl, but I didn't think church would be so long and that it'd still be raining like mad cows.

Most of us are pigging out and "hoi toi-ing" or watching TV. In my case, I do all 3. I eat, make everyone watch Constantine as Keanu Reeves is so darn hot and bergaya and I join the table. There was *takes a deep breath* fried rice, sandwiches, sushi, jelly, yee sang, sparkling juice, cocktails, roasted chicken, pizza, potato salad and ermm...drinks. Hehe.

Surprisingly, I ate very little as I was very bloated from the visiting earlier on. So much for my bottomless pit reputation. This bottomless pit not functioning well on that day.

I skip over to the living room where I watch TV and play cards. I think I broke even on blackjack or maybe lost a bit. I lost pretty much at in-between except for the time me, Cze and Yang tumpang Drew to sapu the pot. In-between is so not my game.

I think the big winner of the night is probably Kinz or Yang. At one point when I asked Kinz how much his pile of cash was, he told me it was at RM19 and he started on a base of RM1. Lucky fella! Almost every other round he blackjacks, get twenty-one or he manages to run.
Kinz and his winnings! Luck was definitely with him...
Me and Cze conspiring to beat the dealer, Vincent. Hehe...
Mean, Evil & Naughty. ;)
Cze, Me & Thiam Beng at Wai Ee's place
Cze and I bersnap-snapping pictures between gambling and tv...

Towards the end, we take loads of photos, some crappy, some poser-pan and some just like a big happy family.

My personal favourite cause everyone looks so nice and its like one big happy familyThis is the i-dunno-what-combo of poses...

Hail Hitler!

Babies on top, or are they trying to do the seductive one finger in the mouth pose? Peaceful prayers in the middle and the bottom row do their own thing. Haha.

1 likes it kungfu, 2 cover their face from shame and 3 peaceful prayers. Some very "friendly" but shy guys and as usual the bottom doing their own thing.

Family photo round 2. Sober and devoid of any hysterical-laughter inducing poses

Lean to the left!!!

This is embarassing...attack of the clams! The oh-so-noted one, two and five pose. I'm pretty sure the one pose isn't normally done with that finger though.

We end by "lou-ing" the yee sang with forks and not chopsticks which is a first for me. Usually, people say things like "may you be prosperous & healthy" or "may you do well in your studies" BUT, Cze said, "may Wai Ee, Sook Teng and Siew Yen get boyfriends soon!" Haha...Uh, thanks very much for your thoughtful wishes but I think I'll continue enjoying my freedom for now. Lou hei, lou hei...

After "lou-ing" the yee sang, we wanted to yum seng but Wai Ee's parents were sleeping so we did a silent version of yum seng. It was hilariously funny cause everyone was like going "yuuuuuuuum... seng!" but in whispers instead of yelling out at the top of our voices. Its like normal yum seng but on silent mode. Kinz took a video of our silent yum seng. Haha.

Helped Wai Ee to clean up or she would have to stay up half the night, before Cze and I left for home carrying the remnants of our food. Came home and chatted online before crashing at 3am. I kinda fell asleep in front of the comp actually. Hehe.

Final highlights:

1. A heartfelt thank you to those who kindly drove on that day without complaints.
2. Wai Ee, thanks very much for opening your house as a potluck venue again and I'm sorry if we created a mess and made so much noise.
3. This organising thing gets a bit easier with practice, but I think I'd prefer not to have to organize it again on such short notice. *hint hint, guys you can start practicing your organising skills*
4. Camera people of the day : Kinz, Cze, Sueh and Wai Ee, thanks for snapping and sending the pictures over. I plain forgot about my camera the whole day.
5. Thanks to all who cooked, or whose mum's cooked or those who bought and brought food to the potluck, it was a nice dinner.
6. This will probably be my last CNY here in Msia for a bit, so thank you very very much to everyone present who made it an enjoyable event for me. Its more of who you're eating with than what you're eating. But its no excuse to eat lousy food among friends either!
7. Lets do this potluck thing more often and especially during every CNY if possible. After all, we don't have very long more till we all walk down our own separate paths, do we?
